After receiving the email notification facilitated by the workflow in the Test Suite, testers can log into the SAP Solution Manager system with their user IDs. There, they’ll see summary statistics on the progress of test execution and can drill into the test cases assigned to them for execution from the tester worklist accessible from the SAP Fiori launchpad , as shown below. The list of defects raised for the assigned test cases is also made visible in the tester worklist.

Testers will have access to view all the test packages that have been assigned to them. By selecting a specific package, they will be able to see the corresponding test cases that need to be executed in the section below.

It is important to mention that in SAP Solution Manager 7.2, you have the ability to monitor the progress of test execution at an individual tester level when multiple testers are assigned the same test case within a single test package.

Test packages that do not have a specified test sequence permit the execution of test cases in any desired order. On the other hand, test cases with assigned test sequences restrict their execution to follow a predefined order. In such cases, the completion of the first test is necessary before proceeding to execute the next one.

When modifications are being made to a test plan that is designated as “in Preparation” or “Protected”, testers will be able to identify the test packages by the presence of a Ready to Test Protected icon.

Tests that are prepared and available for testing will be indicated by the presence of a Ready to Test icon.

In order to initiate the test, the tester simply needs to select the Run button. This action will then open up the Manual Test Case Execution screen.

In this section, the tester has the ability to carry out various testing functions, as illustrated in the following two figures.

Upon selecting this option, the test case template will be displayed, containing step-by-step instructions and the necessary test data.

This will initiate the program in the designated test system.

To ensure that the testing process takes place in the foreground, it is necessary for the tester to be enrolled in the Foreground Scheduler (Transaction STPFE) and select Activate Testing option.

The scheduled test scripts will be run according to the predetermined schedule set in the job scheduler displayed below. However, it is also possible to manually initiate immediate execution of the test scripts directly from the scheduler.

The figure below displays the choices available and the current status of the job that is being planned for immediate execution. Monitoring of background execution can be done through accessing Job Overview in Transaction SM37.

The details related to the test case, including Solution Documentation data, are automatically transferred to the defect.

The defect transaction number that is created can be seen in the message ID. By clicking on the defect ID, it will open in ITSM where further actions are taken. The Incident Management features can then be used to categorize, prioritize, assign to a developer, and retest the fixed defect.

In case a transportable change is required for making corrections, defects can be replicated to defect fixes using the standard SAP transaction type S1TM.
